Saying Goodbye

Even though my heart is at peace, it's still hard to actually type out that my grandpa passed away. He went home to be with the LORD, and all of his friends and family who have passed before him, on Friday morning. We got the phone call last week that he was unresponsive, so we went to see him and I was able to say my goodbyes, not knowing how long he would make it. My grandpa had Alzheimers for several years, so he has changed a lot in the last 8 years. I am at peace knowing that he is happy and back to himself again. I will miss him, his laugh, his love. He was 84 and lived a good life surrounded by people who loved him and whom he loved back! If anyone wonders where I got my orneriness, it all started with him. My favorite was asking him, "How are you doing," which he would reply "Me? Oh, I'm just as ornery as ever!" As hard as death can be, the good thoughts to take away from it are that pieces of that person live on inside of so many others. I can see so many of his good qualities in my own dad and other family members, which make me feel like he still is around... just in a different way!

My grandpa, Eldon Keyser was a great grandfather, father, husband and friend.
I am proud to be his granddaughter.
